The Institute for Family Studies exists in the space they have left empty. For more than a decade we have followed the data wherever it leads. We say plainly what it means because we believe families deserve better than comfortable silence.

Our Mission
The mission of the Institute for Family Studies is to strengthen marriage and family life and advance the welfare of children through research and public engagement. Known for objective and incisive studies that attract attention and respect from across the ideological spectrum, IFS programs focus on marriage, child well-being, family formation, parenting, and the role of technology in family life.
By carefully and accurately documenting the changing contours of contemporary family life, and the central role marriage and family play in the lives of children, adults, and the commonweal, IFS seeks to elevate the family to the top of the nation’s policy and cultural agenda where it can receive the recognition and response it deserves.
